As a professional speaker and author of two published books my work for Motivational Steps, www.motivationalsteps.com
keeps me busy, but planning for the not so busy times is essential for any SMB. One of the first events I planned not long after starting my own business was a joint venture with a large financial planning organization. My role was to plan an event and I would have a speaking slot of about half an hour where I would share my story and how I had not planned for my financial future, and why this was. The financial planning contact would then share how their organization could have helped me many years ago if I had been aware of who they were and what their offering was. This was not a huge event but it definitely helped my business and the organization partnering with me in many ways.
The Small Business Community Network, of which I am a co-founder also offers a variety of special events, along with regular monthly meetings. Today I shared in my TELUS Talks Business blog post how planning an event can help not only your business but other small businesses and your local community.
Please read my post and be sure to leave your comments on the TELUS Talks Business website as your feedback is important to me.
