As a business and personal development coach I notice the one thing everyone seems to have in common is lack of patience. My clients will ask me to cut to the chase and tell them how to get there faster, there being the owner of a successful business. After I explain that there are steps to take in order to ensure you have a stable foundation for your business most of my clients agree that my way is best, I actually did what I talk about so who better to listen to?
One of the programs I offer is about self-awareness and getting to know the real you. In fact this is one of my most popular programs because, after the initial complimentary 1-hour session where I ask my client some important questions, we usually discover the the client requires the self-awareness part of the program in order to move on to the next section. Think of this as similar to a needs assessment that many of you may be familiar with and how we determine the needs of the client first and foremost before moving on. In order to know others you have to know yourself, this not only helps you personally, it helps you know how to deal with different people, not everyone has the same likes and dislikes and wants to be treated the same.
Building strong foundations for your business is essential just like when you are building the foundations for a house or an office building. Without the foundations the building will collapse, similar to businesses that rush forward without covering the basic structure of their business.
Owning a business means you have to wear many hats, one day you may be the adminstrative person, and the next in charge of branding, accounting, sales, marketing, networking and the list goes on. Eventually you will need help and want to hire someone you trust and know can do the job you hired them for. In the beginning you tend to take on all the responsibility that comes with a new small business, sometimes because you lack funds to pay someone else, but also because you lack trust and think only you can do the job properly.
My web seminars are training modules that cover the basics of starting a small business and everything involved, and along with the business and personal development consulting, I am kept pretty busy with clients who desire the knowledge I can pass on to them. I made some mistakes when I first became a business owner, I lacked knowledge, and I was very naive in some cases.
