If you attended my SBCN presentation last year, you got a glimpse of the power of the Birkman Method® to help individuals understand their unique sales styles and why their styles are successful with some clients and not so successful with others.
Early in my career, I was fortunate enough to be introduced to the Birkman Method ® to which I attribute my growth in Emotional Intelligence. Birkman taught me to understand the reasons why I had conflicts with others, and it taught me that I have primary responsibility for understanding and managing my own behaviour in response to others. This has helped me, not only in my career, but also in managing my personal relationships. I can honestly say that in the twenty-plus years of using Birkman, there have been very few individuals I couldn't learn to like.
I was pleased to learn that Birkman President and CEO, Sharon Bikman Fink, has just collaborated on a new book, The Birkman Method - Your Personality at Work. As well as describing the Birkman Method® and how it is used, the book shares real-life examples of how individuals and teams have used Birkman to improve their relationships and the success of their organizations. Through understanding their own and others' interests, strengths, motivational needs, and stress behaviours, they were able to overcome their differences, move square pegs out of round holes, and work together for their mutual success.
