How Much Effort Do You Put Into Your Business Marketing?

I see it every day, people who think someone else will spread the word for them, but where business is concerned there are a few reasons why this does not happen:

  • Family & Friends assume you don't need their help, or they don't have the interest or time to help you.
  • Business connections are busy, or feel that the relationship you have with them is not at the point they can refer you.

A couple of simple reasons why people are not spreading the word for you. The business world has changed over the past ten years, it's not all about selling anymore, it is about being part of a community, helping each other, and building relationships built on trust.

Here are a few ideas how you can influence others to spread the word for you:

  • Explore the networking events that suit your budget, time and interests and attend on a consistent basis, get to know the other attendees and always follow up with them. Connect with those people who are on Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter, to name a few, and find out as much about them as possible. There will be lots of opportunities for you to help those connections by sharing their posts, liking their posts, commenting on their posts, and introducing them to your trusted contacts.
  • Meet a couple of week a week for coffee, lunch or drinks and find out how you can help them.
  • Start your own group of trusted contacts with at least four people, but no more than 6, and meet each other at least every two weeks so you can brainstorm each others ideas, and offer tips to each other. Once again building a group of trusted influencers.

Effort purely means a vigorous or determined attempt. Without attempting to do anything to raise awareness about your organization, your products and services, nothing is what you will receive in return!
