You know, since I started marketing the idea of the DSGN network almost a year ago, it has been quite a journey! Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine the number of people I would come into contact with, the number of opportunities I would put myself out for and the interest that I have received since I finally decided to push forth with an idea that popped into my head over 10 years ago.
For those who don't know; there are actually two sides of the DSGN network:
The first side, is probably a little more obvious, it's what I'm trying to do - professionally. With the DSGN network I want to realise an idea of building a collaborative, end-to-end creative solution for the small and medium-sized business. Many designers try to be a jack of all trades, some, it serves well, but in many cases it simply makes more sense to have professionals focusing on what they love doing best.
At our current state, the DSGN network provides graphic and branding services, professional photography services as well as electronic communications in the form of newsletter promotions. At full strength, we're aiming to bring a complete line of creative services to the table:
- Graphic design
- Web design & development
- Photography
- Videography
- Electronic Communications: Social Media and newsletter integrations
- Marketing and strategy
- Mobile application development
- Marketing/Promotion Consulting as well as Business Analysis/Development services
In addition, the DSGN network also in the final stages of developing Gopherit Online - an online promotion system. Through Gopherit Online Business to Consumer (B2C) companies can reach, engage and maintain relationships with both existing clientele, and find new customers. Gopherit Online takes some of the best ideas of print, web, Social Media as well as existing loyalty systems and programs and wraps them into one online service.
Clients can create campaigns in multiple cities, each with unlimited online, or offline promotions. There are additional ways to gain exposure through Featured Company banners on the Gopherit Online site upon launch, as well as allowing clients to integrate the promotions into our own Social Media on both Facebook and Twitter which will be further detailed at launch in early 2011.
What is the other side you ask?
One thing is very clear growing up in Kitchener-Waterloo, we're a tech-town and we should be very proud of companies such as RIM, OpenText and the myriad of wonderful startups that have been incubated here. But, why not the creative industry?
Again, in the spirit of collaboration, the DSGN network hopes to become a resource for up and coming designers and marketers. Hopefully within the 2011 calendar year, the DSGN network shall start holding monthly events allowing students of various creative industries to come chat, seek advice and gain insight into the creative industry they're heading into. It is a simple, yet great way we feel to encourage growth of the industry.
That is us in a nutshell. We're committed to working alongside the small and medium-sized business. We're committed to providing a true end-to-end creative solution over time to our clientele and we're committed to assisting the next generation of creative professionals within the Kitchener-Waterloo.
Should you have any questions, know someone who may be a good fit for the DSGN network, or simply want to sit down and chat sometime - let us know! Also look for the formal launch of both the DSGN network and Gopherit Online website early in the New Year.
