You set your goals, can you remember when? Did you ever re-visit those goals and set a time stamp on them, and know that you had set an attainable time in which to reach your goals? Goals are like people, plants, and food, if you leave them alone for long they can whither away, die, and go stale. People need nourishment and nurturing, as do plants, and food left uneaten and forgotten is wasted and has to be thrown away. Did you throw your goals away or are they alive and flourishing?
Most people either get bored with the goals they have chosen, or just forget about them because they are too busy or just do not care. Goals are about change, and if you have taken the step to set goals it means you have recognised something needs to change. Goal setting should be simple and fun and I want to share some easy ideas with you that can help you:
- Select a picture or icon of your goals and either pin it on a board you can see at a glance or inside a scrap book that you keep handy.
- Write in a diary or journal when you set your goals, why, and an attainable time frame for completing your goals.
- Be passionate about the goals you have set yourself, believe in yourself, and talk about your goals to your mentors, friends, family.
- Once a day, when you look at the picture of the goals you have set, write in your diary/journal how far along you are with your goals and anything that may be holding you back.
- Review the goals you set at least once a month and if you feel that you need to make changes go ahead, they are your goals to change.
