Social media is a wonderful way to connect with people you want to influence, whether you want to help them in some way or sell your products and services. But if you insist on being someone you are not, an example could be - an expert on social media but you have no solid background or even use the social media platforms effectively you will lose out.
It's not about having the most followers, it is about establishing your credibility, knowing what works for you and why it works. Then you might be qualified to offer tips, help, advice to others, but not insist they do it "your way".
It is the diversity and uniqueness of the people on Twitter that works, if everyone tweeted the same way they would all be sharing the same message like robots. Yes some people use auto responders, some people actively sell and some are friendly and engage with others. Ultimately if it works for you success on social media will be yours, whatever success means to you and it could be financial, it could be that you have more exposure for your business, whatever it is not everyone has the same goal.
Measuring your success on social media platforms, another example of people telling you how you can do this when in reality it is different for everyone. You might be advised you have to have thousands of followers and this means you are successful, when in reality you have no idea how to influence them and your time is spent tweeting all day but to what end?
Why not find your own individual way where social media is concerned and stand out from the crowd, be unique, be yourself even if you do make mistakes it just means you are human.
